House of Incest was Anais Nin's first book after her study of D.H.Lawrence. She started writing it
in Paris 1932, influenced by the French surrealists. Many of the images in the
book are taken from her dreams. The writing is magical, transporting the reader immediately
into a dream world and leaving him with heightened awareness.
"All that I know is contained in this book, written without witness, an edifice without dimensions, a city hanging in the sky." (preface) |
